Last week we spanned four generations on my side of the family, now we are down to three. My last remaining grandparent, my maternal grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, while we were away camping. It was everything she had been praying for, quick and easy. We weren’t shocked, she had been in hospice care for about a month. It is amazing, however, even when you know it is coming, death still catches you by surprise. And now we are working through how things have changed. Because they have, in so many subtle, small ways. What makes me smile is knowing that while we are all adjusting and seeing holes and empty places – she is happier, more content, and more complete than she has ever been before. She is truly home.
